Truckin like the doo-dah man once told me 'You got to play your hand. The Days Between Festival keeps the music Grateful Dead very much alive. E Truckin got my chips cashed in, keep A truckin like the doo-dah man. Also playing was Full Moon Alice, Jerry’s Middle Finger and the Whisky Family band. Tumbleweed Soul and the Grateful Bluegrass Boys did some solid bluegrass music with a nod to the Grateful Dead. The David Nelson Band and Stu Allen and Friends also played some great sets of classic psychedelic rock. To me, the Darkstar Orchestra gives the Grateful Dead new life and their energy is upbeat. They played with lots of energy with their own blend of Americana and psychedelic music. They re-created sets from past Grateful Dead shows on long set both nights. ![]() Headlining the festival was the Darkstar Orchestra, which is famous for continuing the Grateful Dead live concert experience. ![]() But the music and performances eclipsed any discomforts and put everyone in a great state of mind. The people at the festival were super friendly, even though it was hot, crowded and dusty. The festival is a celebration of everything Grateful Dead and the bands give those who were not lucky enough to see the Dead in their prime a chance to keep on Truckin’. It was a long drive to attend the Days Between Festival in Laytonville, California, but for me and hundreds of other fans it was worth it.
